Update....
I've been bad about updating this so here's my new update. Last week I think I did pretty good about running. Monday I did 4 miles in about 50 minutes, I started off too fast and by the second mile I was struggling. Tuesday I went and ran 2 miles which took me about 30 minutes. I ran outside and it was pretty cold so that didn't help any. Thursday I ran at the gym for 5 miles in 59:45. Not too bad for now. Saturday I slept in and then went running outside, it wasn't too cold so that helped out ALOT. I did 3.2 miles in 32 minutes. I've improved my 5k time a whole bunch. I remember when I did the Jingle Bell 5k I did it in 46 minutes. I've cut 14 minutes off so I'm happy about my improvement. Last night I had a soccer game and I got knee'd in the ribs so hopefully that doesn't affect me. My knee is hurting so we'll see how tonight's workout goes. I'm supposed to do my speed workout today. Run 2 miles and jog 2 miles.

A New Year...A New Me?
I've been bad about updating this since it was Christmas time. Ok well the week of Christmas wasn't all that great. I ate alot and didn't run as much as I needed to. After the horrible 5k I ran, I decided to be more serious about this. So the week of New Years I ran on Monday for 2.5 miles. I was supposed to do 3 but I didn't make it. Tuesday was moving day so I guess I can call that my cross training day. I pretty much moved everything in our room by myself so I was really sore the next day. Wednesday was my day off so I used it to recover from Tuesday's move. Thursday I went to the gym and ran 3 miles non-stop. I was ecstatic about this. Friday was New Years eve so I drank alot which I guess wasn't good since I had to run on Saturday. Surprisingly, I wasn't hungover and I was able to go run. I did 2 miles in 25 minutes. Again not my best time but I've only been running for 2 weeks. Today I decided to change my training so I'll be doing 4 miles. Lets see how this week goes and I'll keep updating.
Also, on another note, I know this blog is supposed to be training for a half ironman but I'm currently training for a half marathon (gotta start somewhere).

Ouch
Last night me, my girlfriend and two co-workers went to run the Jingle Bell 5k in downtown Dallas. Well I say run because I walked most of the time with some killer shin splints. I finished the 3.2 miles in 46 minutes. It's not bad because it's a 12 minute per mile pace. I'd really like to get to what I did in July for the Liberty 5k where I finished the 5k in 30 minutes.
I was reading a half Ironman training program and it stated that to begin this program if I have to be able to consistently swim 40min, run 60min and bike 90min. If I can't even do a 5k without hurting, I have a lot of work ahead of me. It looks like if I want to do this half Ironman I have to step up my game.

First
OK so this is the first post on this blog. Basically I'll be posting about my training I'll be doing in order to achieve my first half Iron-man triathlon. I'm not in the best of shapes (except for round) so this will be a challenge to lose weight and achieve my goal. It's Christmas time so that's going to be hard to try not to eat 20,000 calories in one sitting. Also since it's winter I'm only running on a treadmill. I'll have to pick up the swim here pretty soon and then once it starts warming up I'll pick back up on the bike.
At the moment I'm actually training for a half marathon for March. I weighed myself on Monday (12-21) and according to the scale I'm at 226. I ran on Monday but got horrible shin splints after only half a mile. I went and bought some new running shoes and ran last night and my legs started to hurt but not as bad as Mondays run. I was able to finish 2 miles in 28 minutes. It's not my best time but it's also not my worst. Anyways, if you keep reading I'll keep posting. Any feedback will be dealt with accordingly
